Mayoral candidate profile: Raymond Dehn

Raymond Dehn, a Democratic Representative in Congress, was at the forefront of the votes for the Minneapolis DFL Convention. According to www.raymonddehn.com, Dehn grew up in a working-class home in Brooklyn Park. After some bad decisions in his teenage years, he fell into drug addiction and alcoholism until a burglary charge in 1976. He received a pardon in 1982 and has been sober for 40 years. He received a degree in architecture at the University of Minnesota and was elected to the State Legislature in 2012 where he represents district 59B (Northside, Bryn Mawr, North Loop, Elliot Park, and Downtown).

His vision includes:

-Remedying systemic inequity

-Generating community wealth

-Regaining affordable housing

-Establishing accountable policing

-Uplifting peoples’ health
